Microbes play a major role in fixing nutrients to the soil by breaking down various complex compounds to the form of uptake by the plants. Rhizobium is well known for their nitrogen fixing ability. Methylobacteria’s are potent phosphate solubliser and producer of phytohormones even some species of Methylobacteria are reported in nitrogen fixation. Hence when the major nutrient solubilizing bacteria are co-inoculated in the most cultivated crop (Oryza sativa) they provide the necessary nutrient for the growth and yield of the crop without relying on synthetic fertilizer.
